Write the welcome message
The first message visitors see when they open the chat, with an optional picture or GIF.
The welcome message is the first bubble in the chat. It greets visitors before they type anything, so use it to say hello and tell them what you can help with.
Inboxes → your inbox → Widget → Welcome message
- In Message, write your greeting. For example: "Hi! Ask us about orders, sizes or delivery times."
- To add a picture or GIF, drop it on the box under Picture or GIF, or click Choose image. It shows above your text, in the same bubble.
- Check the preview, then click Save changes on the bar at the bottom of the page.
To change the picture later, click Replace. To take it away, click Remove and save again.
Good to know
- The picture can be a PNG, JPG or GIF up to 2 MB. It's shown as it is, not cropped, and a GIF keeps moving.
- The picture is optional. A short greeting on its own works well too.
- If you leave Message empty, the widget uses its default greeting, "Hi! How can we help?", in the inbox's language.
- Quick chats, the one-tap messages, show under the welcome message. Set them up in Appearance.
- Changes reach your site the next time a visitor opens the widget.
